Trade : South countries insist MC11 outcome must be finalised in Geneva (PRIV)

Uganda along with many countries said on Friday (10 November) that the outcome document for the World Trade Organization's eleventh ministerial conference in Buenos Aires must be finalized in Geneva so as to avert the opaque process that was adopted in the run-up to the last ministerial meeting in Nairobi, in 2015, trade envoys told SUNS.

Consensus could not be reached on the way forward on addressing pre-2020 issues under the agenda of the 23rd meeting of the Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 23) taking place in Bonn, Germany.

Developing countries, led by the Group of 77 and China, expressed concerns over the lack of progress on all finance-related issues due to the lack of political will by developed countries, adding that finance is the key enabler in the operationalization of the Paris Agreement.
