Trade : DG inciting sponsors of plurilateral initiatives to intensify campaign (PRIV)

The World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevedo appears to be encouraging the sponsors of various plurilateral initiatives announced after the failed eleventh ministerial conference (MC11) at Buenos Aires last December to intensify their campaign, according to trade envoys familiar with the development.

Trade : Korea's import ban on Japanese fish products held WTO-illegal (PRIV)

A dispute panel at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has largely ruled that South Korea's imposition of import bans on certain fishery products as well as additional testing and certification requirements on all imported food products from Japan in the wake of the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident in March 2011 were inconsistent with Korea's obligations under the WTO.

Rights : Understanding child soldier recruitment needed to help curb crisis (PRIV)

It is not known exactly how many child soldiers there are in the world, but current estimates tell us that in 2018, the number is likely to be in the tens of thousands.
