Trade : China assails US over its "unilateralism and protectionism" (PRIV)

China tore into the "unilateralism and protectionism" unleashed by the United States in the multilateral trading s ystem, cautioning members at the World Trade Organization's General Council meetin g on Tuesday (8 May) that they face a grave moment since the establishment of the WTO in 1995, trade envoys told SUNS.

The United States came under widespread criticism from both developing and developed countries at a meeting of the WTO's General Council on 8 May over its continued blockage of appointments to fill vacancies in the WTO's Appellate Body as well as its recent unilateral actions under both Section 232 and Section 301 of its trade laws.

Trade : AB chair calls for "constructive dialogue" on DSU concerns (PRIV)

The chair of the WTO's Appellate Body (AB) has called on WTO members to assume shared responsibility in orde r to maintain and preserve the trust and credibility that the WTO dispute set tlement system in general, and the Appellate Body in particular, have built up over more than twenty years.
