The aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) which began in 2008 is still with us. The widespread macroeconomic downturn which followed the GFC's outbreak has been contained and growth of GDP has been restored, though not at rates which have repaire d earlier losses.

UN : When gender parity knocks at the door, does merit fly out of the window ? (PRIV)

As gender empowerment gathers momentum, both inside and outside the United Nations, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is expected to announce shortly a set of new proposals to improve UN human resources policies - specifically aimed at increasing gend er and geographical diversity within the Secretariat.

Recent research at a centre in G uyana shows that some types of butterflies and lizards in the Amazon have been se eking shelter from the heat as Amazonian temperatures rise.
