Many developing countries have expressed grave concern over the strangulation of the World Trade Organization's Appellate Body (AB), which will become dysfunctional on 11 December due to the unilateral actions by the United States, blocking the selection process for filling six AB vacancies, trade envoys told the SUNS.

Carbon neutral target for all by 2050 disregards equity and justice (PRIV)

At a side-event held on Dec 2 at the climate talks in Madrid, several developing country delegates gave their reflections on the theme of "Equity in the implementation of the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement", organised by Third World Network, and pointed out that recent calls for all countries to go carbon neutral by 2050 disregards equity and climate justice, as this treats developed and developing countries in the same manner.

South submits formal proposal on Loss and Damage Mechanism (PRIV)

Developing countries under the Group of 77 and China made a formal submission for a proposed decision on the "Review of the Warsaw International Mechanism (WIM) for Loss and Damage and the report of the WIM Executive Committee (ExCom)" on 7 Dec 2019, at the UNFCCC COP25 in Madrid, Spain.
